Nikole Tesle, Aleksandrovo
The village of Aleksandrovo, one of the six settlements in the municipality of Nova Crnja, was founded by King Aleksandar I Karađorđević in 1922. It was inhabited by volunteers from the First World War from the area of Lika and from certain villages of eastern Banat. From its foundation until 1943, the village was called Aleksandrovo, and it changed names until 1992 when it was returned to its original name.
In 2015, the memorial complex Volunteer Gate of the village of Aleksandrov was opened to the organization “Association of War Volunteers 1912 – 1918”, and since last year it has been completed by a memorial – a room in which there is an exhibition “Our first 100 years” dedicated to the founding of the village. The names of the 1030 founders, i.e. the first inhabitants of the village of Aleksandrovo, are inscribed within the memorial complex, and the village is adorned with a bust of King Alexander I Karađorđević the Unifier.
