“Tikvara” nature park is located along the left bank of the Danube, stretching from km 1297 to km 1305. The area of the natural property is dominated by soft deciduous forests, and the entire area is intertwined with the tributaries of the Danube as well as marsh areas. Next to the dominant point of the Tikvar water ecosystem in the Nature Park, there is an artificial stand of swamp cypress, as a natural monument Artificial stand of swamp cypress (3rd category).
The natural monument represents a floristic rarity for our climate of exceptional aesthetic and scientific value, together with four plane trees it constitutes an inestimable value. The size of the navigable area is constantly changing depending on the water level of the Danube. Although Tikvara is a natural breeding ground for fish, changes in the water level also affect the retention period of certain types of fish in the blue zone and their migration to the Danube bed.
The largest part of the surface belongs to JP “Vojvodina-šume” – ŠU Bačka Palanka, and the Nature Park is taken care of by JP Sports recreation center “Tikvara” from Backa Palanka.
BEACH
“Tikvara” beach is the largest beach in Bačkopalana. It is located in an extremely attractive place, on the north side is the lake “Tikvara” and on the south side is the river Danube. Due to its size and location, it is the most visited in the summer months. It is connected to the mainland by a small bridge, so that it has actually been turned into a river island.
FISHING
Tikvara is the largest wintering ground for white fish on the Danube and this water is rich in carp, large specimens of pike, perch, catfish and many other types of fish. The association of sports fishermen “Sharan”, together with the nautical club, forms the backbone of both the nautical offer of this area and the development of fishing tourism.
