Dear visitors,

You are in the Visitor Center of the Special Nature Reserve “Carska bara”. Carska bara is a nature-protected area of the 1st category.

It is a complex of wetland, forest, meadow, steppe, and salt pan ecosystems with diverse and rich wildlife and habitats of many endemic, sub endemic, and relict species of the Pannonian area. The area covers 4726 hectares. The natural values of the Special Nature Reserve “Carska bara” are highly rated due to the existence of about 500 plant species, 239 bird species (all eight European species of heron nest in this area), 20 fish species, and 30 mammal species rare in this area (otter, squirrel, wild cat, etc.). Protection regimes of I, II, and III degrees of protection have been established in this area. From this location, you can take a boat ride to the lookout point on Carska bara or walk to it for about 5 kilometers. Along the trail, there are benches and rest areas, as well as trash cans. Compliance with the rules of internal order is controlled by the Eco Rangers.
