Vršac
This is the largest sand dune in Europe and is often called the European Sahara. It is a special nature reserve and an ideal picnic spot for nature lovers.
The diverse and rich flora of the Deliblato Sands consists of about 900 species of plants, among which many are rarities, relics, as well as species whose distribution is limited to the Pannonian Plain and its surrounding areas.
Among the species, many of which are protected, stand out: Banat peony (Paeonia oficinallis subsp. banatica), Steppe peony (Paeonia tenuifolia), Pančić’s diaper (Artemisia pancicii), shrivet (Rindera umbellata), Degen’s sedge (Fritilaria degeniana) and many others.
