Topovski put bb, Vršac
The Vršac Tower was built on top of a hill that dominates the surrounding Panonian plain at 399 meters above the sea level. This fortification is a symbol of the city and its surroundings. Serbian despot Đurađ Branković came there after the fall of Smederevo under Turkish rule. By the Treaty Peace, signed in Karlovac in 1701, the building was recognized as a military fortress, and it was demolished on two occasions. The restoration of the Tower started with archaeological research at the end of the 20th century. The reconstruction is not fully completed. The facility works as a branch of the Vršac City Museum.
