90 Maršala Tita St. Vrbas
The Old Cinema Theater in Novi Vrbas – the popular Mozi as the locals once called it according to the Hungarian word for cinema – was opened in 1918. The owner of the cinema was Adam Erleman, a great filmophile, who funded the construction of the cinema building in the center of the town in 1912. Sculptures of two muses are placed on top of the building. At the end of the trumpets that the sculptures held were lamps, which were turned on when the film screening was in progress. Since 1930, renovated and adapted to show sound movies, the cinema has changed its name into Novi Vrbas National Sound Movie Cinema ( srb. Nacional Tonfilm Kino Novi Vrbas). At the grand opening on April 12, the very first sound film was shown in Vrbas. It was the film The Singing Fool, which has been deemed the most successful of all sound films in the world at the time.
