Trg Branka Radičevića 1, Sremski Karlovci
The City Hall is one of the most significant cultural and historical buildings in Vojvodina, built between 1808 and 1811 in the neoclassical style. The building is located in the old town center of Sremski Karlovci. Serbian national and church assemblies were once held in the ceremonial hall of the building. During its history, the City Hall changed its name several times and at one point it was also a prison. The most significant event related to this building took place in May 1848, when Serbian Vojvodina (Dutchy) was proclaimed from its balcony. Throughout history, as each country changed, the coat of arms was placed on the building. Today, above the balcony of the building, is the coat of arms of Sremski Karlovci.
The City Hall has a total area of 3500 square meters. It was renovated in several stages thanks to funds from the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Serbia and the Fund for Capital Investments of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina. In February 2006, the Municipal Administration, the Revenue Department of the Ministry of Finance and the Department of the Republic Geodetic Institute were relocated to the renewed City Hall.
