Sremski Karlovci
Panoramic Spot on the hilltop is a place offering a full view of Sremski Karlovci, its rooftops, the Danube flowing below, and the vast plain of Bačka. It was built and ceremonially opened in 2012 during the traditional event ”Karlovci Grape Harvest” (serbian ”Karlovačka berba grožđa”) The most improtant part of the spot is a two-level open-air stage. A tall gilded cross dominates level one and can be reached by stone steps, while the next level is a circular area, from which you are able to see the most important buildings of Sremski Karlovci, as well as the bridge near Beška and „Koviljsko-Petrovaradinski rit“ (english ”marsh/moorland”). In the auditorium of the amphitheater on the lower level, there is a sculpture of the poet Duško Trifunović, who spent the last few years of his life in Sremski Karlovci and, according to his own wish, was buried there. The monument is made by the academic sculptor Stevan Filipović.
Panoramic spot is open to visitors from March to November, and each year in August, the Karlovci Film Fest is being held there, organized by the students of the Academy of Arts located in Novi Sad.
