Generala Drapšina, Kikinda
In 2015, the world-famous site “Architecture& design”announced a competition for the selection of the 50 most beautiful green streets in the world. A young amateur photographer, Nebojsa Tatomirov, sent a photo of this street to the competition.
When the results of the competition were announced, there was no end to our happiness! This street is in the excellent 22nd place of the 50 most beautiful green streets in the world.
This tree line consists of about 400 trees, American nettle (Celtis occidentalis). The fruit has a pumpkin-like taste and dried and ground together with the stone can be used as a spice.
The city administration takes care of this tree line and each of these trees has its own health card.
We have no knowledge that there were new competitions after 2015, so until there are any, this street remains the most beautiful green street in Serbia and the 22nd most beautiful green street in the world.
These trees were planted 75 years ago, and in their place there was an alley of the same type of tree before that.
