Gallery of Zuzka Medvedova has been an important part of the cultural heritage of the Slovaks of Vojvodina for more than thirty years. It was officially opened on July 1, 1989, and at the first exhibition, the artworks of Zuzka Medvedova were presented. Zuzka Medvedova was the first academic painter (woman) from among the Vojvodina Slovaks. The main motive for establishing the gallery was part of the artistic work of the academic painter Zuzka Medvedova, which she gave to her fellow citizens in her will after her death in 1985.
Gallery of Zuzka Medvedova also organizes the most important artistic manifestation of Slovaks in Vojvodina – the Biennale of Slovak Artists in Serbia, at which the “Karol Miloslav Lehotski” Award for the best solo exhibition in the two-year period between the two biennales and the “Ciril Kutlik” Award for Life work. In parallel with the biennale, a professional conference – Art counseling is held, where topics from the field of arts are discussed.
Gallery of Zuzka Medvedova is currently under the management of the Museum of Vojvodina Slovaks, which takes care of the work program, premises, art collection and professional treatment.
