The Zrenjanin National Museum belongs to the category of museum institutions of a complex type and native character. The area of central Banat is the primary and essential scope of its function, exhibitions, and research work. In this way, the rich cultural heritage of the area in the field of nature, archeology, ethnology, art, and history have come within the framework of systematic protection and professional processing of a specialized institution with certified experts in all relevant fields. Within the collections of the five departments of the Museum, over 33,000 museum items are housed.
The Permanent Exhibition space of the Museum covers an area of 1200 m2. On the first floor, visitors have the opportunity to see the Art Collections of the Permanent Exhibitions, divided into two segments – the Applied Arts Collection and the Fine Arts Collection. Also on the first floor is the Sports History Room. Divisions of the Permanent Exhibitions on the second floor of the National Museum include the exhibitions of the Department of Natural History, the Department of Archeology, the Department of History, and the Department of Ethnology. Exhibitions of the collections are displayed within both the Permanent Exhibitions and thematic, temporary, and chamber exhibitions. Currently, the National Museum of Zrenjanin also features three exhibition spaces on the ground floor of the building: the Salon, the Small Salon, and the Hall of the Museum, which has been adapted into an exhibition space.
