Novosadska 7, 23203 Ečka
Castle “Kastel” is situated 60 km north of Belgrade and 7 km from Zrenjanin in Ecka village. It was built in English style in the period from 1816 to 1820. Lazar Agoston, lord of Ecka, opened this castle in 1920, on the left bank of river Begej, with the concert that amazed visitors with virtuoso Franc Liszt, wonder kid at the time. For years, Kastel was a gathering place for hunters from country and abroad, and often guests included Austro-Hungarian heir presumptive to the throne Franz Ferdinand and Serbian heir presumptive to the throne Aleksandar Karadjordjevic. War destruction affected Kastel as well, and owners left it and went to America. Since the nineties of the XX century the castle is under protection of Institute for Cultural Monuments. This old building is completely renewed today and turned into a place to provide their guests with unforgettable vacation in authentic ambiance inspired by aristocratic past.
